Hamilton County Ambassador

*We also need County Ambassadors for the following counties: Marion, Grundy, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, Bradley, McMinn and Polk Counties in Tennessee and Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray and Fannin Counties in Georgia Description of Assignment: Description of Assignment: The primary role of the County Champion will be to assist the affiliate in developing a local network of advocates within their county who will support the promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The County Champion will serve as a liaison between the Affiliate and the local community. Coordinators needed for each of the following counties: Hamilton, Marion, Grundy, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, Bradley, McMinn, Polk, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray and Fannin. This position will report to the Development Director. Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: • Communicate any requests by the local community for events or participation by the affiliate with the affiliate staff. • Attend at least 2 Chamber functions each month and report learnings back to Development Director • Assist in accomplishing Education Goals within your county. • Disseminate education and outreach materials in your county. • Encourage participation in Affiliate events. • Identify breast cancer survivors in the community. • Work with Volunteer Committee to identify and recruit volunteers within county. • Coordinate volunteers and education materials at any Third Party Fundraisers held in your county. • Protect and maintain the integrity of the Komen brand. • Assist the Communications Coordinator with local media. • Adhere to Affiliate Policies. • *Hamilton County Champion will be charged with helping find County Champions for each of the other 15 counties and offering guidance to the group as needed. Time Commitment: 1 year-term. Anticipated 3-5 hours per week. Qualifications Needed: • Experience in social service-related field helpful but a Passion for Susan G. Komen’s cause is required • The ability to communicate with, motivate supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. Experience with volunteers given preference. • The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities. • Computer proficiency with Windows; the Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook); • Excellent organization skills with ability to manage multiple and diverse projects simultaneously while adhering to hard deadlines. • Enjoy working in a diverse and fast paced team environment.

Description of Assignment: Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications. Oversee the performance of computer systems. Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software Time Commitment: 1 year-term. Anticipated 3-5 hours per month. Qualifications Needed: • Experience in computer service-related field helpful but a Passion for Susan G. Komen’s cause is required.

Rally for the Cure Program Coordinator

Description of Assignment: Position will coordinate Rally for the Cure Program events. The program is designed to spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer through volunteered organized golf, tennis and social events. Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: • Responsible for contacting potential program sponsors specifically, golf clubs, tennis clubs or other social groups which may be candidates to host Rally for the Cure events. • Represent Affiliate at event as necessary. • Provide sponsors with program information provided by Komen National headquarters and educate them on how to carry out event according to Komen guidelines. • Maintains records regarding ongoing fundraising events and activities. • Follow up with sponsors and provide them with other support as needed. Supervisor: Fundraising Chair Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week; hours are flexible. Should have some daytime availability to make and receive phone calls. One-year term commitment preferred. Qualifications Needed: • Organizational skills • Communication skills • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work with diverse groups • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Internet software desired • Previous experience in County Club environment a plus

Third Party Event Coordinator assistant

Description of Assignment: The Third Party Event Coordinator works closely with Fundraising Committee Chair to coordinate and communicate with organizations and individuals to determine how they can best fundraise for the affiliate. Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: • Responsible for screening calls regarding fundraising events to determine the best format for their fundraising activities. • Assists with completion of Third Party Agreements. • Educates businesses and individuals on how to correctly carry out fundraising events in accordance with Komen guidelines. Ensure all printed materials adhere to Komen Headquarters’ Branding Guidelines. • Prepare and maintain timelines for events. • Maintains records regarding ongoing fundraising events and activities. • Follows up on long-term third party event progress and assures payment schedule is being adhered to in accordance with agreement. • Handles general administrative duties such as routine communication and correspondence, pertaining to third party fundraising activities. • Represent the Affiliate when necessary at third-party events. • Coordinates with Volunteer Committee to staff events as needed. • Organize and coordinate planning meetings for staff and volunteers involved in events. • Coordinates with Passionately Pink for the Cure Outreach Coordinator as needed. • Assure event and other fundraising-related items are placed on Affiliate website by IT staff Time Commitment: Between 2-4 hours per week with an increase to 10-15 hours during September and October. Hours are flexible; however candidate should be available during the day via phone or e-mail to answer questions. Evening and weekend availability occasionally needed as event schedule requires. Supervisor: Development Director Qualifications Needed:; • Detail oriented, energetic, organized, with ability to prioritize and manage competing demands for time. • Demonstrates ability in written and oral communication and interpersonal relations. • Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse population. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet software. • Experience in Fundraising or sales is a plus.

Volunteer Training Assistant

Description of Assignment: The Volunteer Training Assistant will assist the Volunteer Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator schedule, plan and prepare for and present various affiliate training sessions. Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: • Periodically makes training presentations to new volunteers. • Make copies or print training materials and assemble training packets. • Pack materials and supplies for off site trainings. • Reserve meeting space for off site trainings. • Purchase refreshments for trainings. • Assist with set up of training room including training materials, refreshments and equipment. • Assist with breaking down room after training and packing materials and equipment. • Send reminder e-mails to registered volunteers. • Maintain inventory of Volunteer T-shirts, pens, folders and other training supplies and materials. • Assist with other training related tasks as needed. Time Commitment: 1 year term preferred, but not required. Hours will vary based on number of trainings sessions throughout the year. Must be available days, evenings and weekends. Qualifications Needed: • Public Speaking Skills. • Organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Internet and e-mail programs. • Strong communication skills. • Good interpersonal skills. • Experience with audio-visual equipment a plus, but not required. • Ability to lift 30 lbs. • Must have reliable transportation

Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives Coordinator

Description of Assignment: To recruit schools, businesses, and other organizations to participate in the program. For every pink lid sent in from program beginning in the fall through December 31, Yoplait® donates 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, up to or above their set minimum donation amount. Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: • Contact local schools, large business and large organizations by phone and e-mail blasts to promote program. for contacting local businesses and organizations to provide information on how they can hold fundraising events. • Utilize Yoplait SLTSL planning and collection kits to facilitate lid collection. • Coordinate placement and pick up of collection boxes and materials provided by Komen National headquarters at participating locations using affiliate volunteers and students needing community service hours. • Locate media partners willing to assist with promotion of program. • Coordinate mailing of lids collected by Affiliate to Yoplait by deadline. Qualifications Needed: • Communication skills • Ability to travel locally • Ability to work well with the public • Knowledge of e-mail and Internet applications Supervisor: Fundraising Chair Time Commitment: Up to 10 hours per week during months of September through December.

AFFILIATE FUNDRAISING AND SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE 

JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Fundraising and Sponsorship chair Reports To: Development Director Selected By: Development Director Term: One Year Authority Vested and Limits: Works with the Development Director to secure funds and sponsorships for both the Chattanooga affiliate and for The Race For The Cure® event; may not obligate the Affiliate or parts thereof to any affiliation or action without specific approval of the Affiliate Executive Director and proper coordination. Responsibilities: The fundraising and sponsorship chair has the responsibility of identifying and securing sponsors for the Affiliate and for the Race, both cash and in-kind. Work with the Development Director to: • Develop a target list of potential sponsors with key contact names and addresses that does not conflict with Official Race Series Partners. • Implement the 2011 local sponsorship package for the local event. • Write introductory letters and schedule mailings, calls and meetings for sponsorship solicitation. Approach committee members and acquaintances that may have a contact within a company. • Use Komen Chattanooga contract/agreement outlining expectations and obligations of the sponsor and the Race committee; forward copies to Development Director (draft and final). This document not only points out what the sponsor will do for the Affiliate, but what the Affiliate will do for the sponsor in the way of banners, entry forms, placement on signage (including t-shirts), etc. • Work with Executive Director to select a printer for materials such as entry forms, posters, etc. • Maintain contact throughout the year with sponsors; invite them to special events and to a special sponsor/media tent on Race day. • Give major sponsor representatives (national and local) the opportunity to speak at press conferences, scheduled TV and radio appearances prior to the Race; invite a sponsor representative to a Race committee meeting to be introduced to committee members. • Write thank-you notes at end of event and prepare a final report. The committee should compile a notebook of suggestions, contacts, timelines, etc., to be handed over to the next year’s committee chair. • Deliver a commemorative gift to sponsors or deliver at thank-you party or event. Time Commitment (estimate per week/month): 5 HOURS PER WEEK
